Context· weakGEO-E022
Lime + diatomaceous earth forms a C–S–H binder at room temperature (feasibility only)
- what the source states
- Cement pastes made from diatomaceous earth, lime, and water at room temperature develop a calcium silicate hydrate (C–S–H) gel cementing phase, identified by XRD, SEM, FTIR, and NMR.
- what we infer
- Establishes only that the revised binder proposed in GEO-E017 is chemically feasible with materials plausibly available in ancient Egypt. It contains no pyramid samples and is zero evidence that such a binder was used; feasibility is not occurrence.
- limitations
- Pure materials-science demonstration by the Barsoum group; nothing archaeological is tested.
