Motif families: The bird & the rounded form

A focused subcomparison of Birdmen across two worlds. It is not independent evidence for the same proposed link.

Neolithic Anatolia

Pillar 43 · bird and disc

One composition within the wider Anatolian repertoire.

Why these examples belong together

A deliberately narrow subset, used to inspect the specific relation between a bird and a rounded form.

Pillar 43

One carved surface contains several animals and signs. The disc’s meaning and the upper arched forms remain disputed.

The proposed connection

What makes it a question?

A bird beside a rounded shape is broad; a particular posture and placement could be more distinctive. This is a focused subcomparison within the larger birdman inquiry.

The section “Birds, eggs, and birdmen with eggs” explicitly compares these two carvings.
Karahan Tepe’s figure and the moai kavakava

Look closely

What appears to correspond

  • A projecting bird head, bent lower limb and nearby rounded form can be inspected in both images.
Keep in the frame

What differs or remains uncertain

  • Wing and human-like arm are different anatomical relations.
  • The meaning of the Pillar 43 disc remains open; calling both forms eggs would decide the issue prematurely.
Transmission check

No route established in this review

No transmission sequence for this specific comparison has been established in the sources reviewed. That is not proof that contact was impossible.

What would move this forward

  • Code posture, attachment, contact and surrounding scene separately.
  • Check full surfaces and independent images before judging the silhouette.
